When you read this I hope I shall just have returned from a long-planned trip to Colorado skiing at Aspen and Vail, and spending an evening with Colin Stewart in Denver. A full report on my trip, however, will have to wait until the May issue.
I was very happy to see Foxy Parker while attending Fathers Visitors' Day at my son's school in Bedford the other day. Foxy's daughter, Pat, is in the first grade at the same school. Foxy was just promoted to research and development manager of the Bard-Parker Co., manufacturers of surgical instruments in Danbury, Conn.
Tad Comstock, Bertie, and their four children have once again moved back to the East, this time to Concord, N. H. Tad had been regional planning engineer for the U. S. Bureau of Public Roads in Homewood, Ill. He now is division engineer responsible for all Federal-aid highway functions in New Hampshire, which certainly is an important job, now with all the new roads in various stages of work.
The Knight family, Autty, Nancy, and their four daughters recently moved to a house in Wenham, Mass., and Autty writes they all love their new house. He also says they had a great day while enjoying both the Harvard and Yale games. Autty is president of the Knight Fuel and Lumber Co. in Beverly.
The Mutual Insurance Company of Omaha has Tom Baldwin as the Company's New York and New England group insurance manager, with offices in New York City. Tom and Mary Jane with their sons, Geoff and Chris, now seventeen and thirteen, are still living in Greenwich, Conn.
One of the regulars we are looking forward to seeing at reunion again- this June is Larry Kepnes. I hope that, in addition to bringing Janet, he also lets Jennie who is sixteen come along, as she will certainly have a great time in Hanover, and maybe Steve, fourteen, and Susan, thirteen, as well. Larry is president of the Kepnes Fuel Oil Company in Medford, Mass.
Joe and Doris Logan's four children are almost all teenagers at this point, which must keep things active at home in Hadley, Mass. Jeff is fifteen, Debbie thirteen, Joe Ill twelve, and Jason eleven. Joe is coordinator of sales for an engineering firm in Agawam, which must be plenty busy these days with the growth taking place in Western Massachusetts.
I hope when I'm in Denver I have an opportunity to call Bill Malone. Bill is a lawyer with the Title Guaranty Company in Littleton, Colo.
It has been a long time since we have seen Larry and Chris Pedersen, so I hope they can make it in June. Larry is with the old-time Dartmouth family of D. R. Whipple Company, manufacturers' representatives, as sales engineer in Schenectady. Larry Jr. is sixteen and Neil fourteen.
The last I heard from the West, Marty Ullman was vice-president for sales of the Royal Pacific Company, manufacturers of plastic housewares in Los Angeles. Marty and Ann have a daughter and son and live in Lahambra.
Once again, Lou Perry is working hard with his agents, trying to get an early start on his increased goal for this year. Lou did a fantastic job last year, his first as our head class agent, with a fifty percent increase in gifts over the previous year, and we should all be proud of him. Last year's achievement was by far the largest increase produced by any class, and the feat Lou accomplished was well recognized in Hanover. This year Lou has a reputation to live up to, so let's all give him our support, so '48 can once again show them that we will not only reach, but easily surpass our goal.
You will be receiving detailed information about our reunion schedule from Dick Barlow very shortly, so I hope your plans are made for the weekend of June 16 and 17, Because none of you will want to miss our fast approaching TUMULTUOUS TWENTIETHI
