In the fall of 1902 the Class of 1906, two hundred and forty-four strong, entered Dartmouth College. As the College opened in September 1968 only 35 members were still living. Our last member to leave us was Ned French.
Francis Childs was the only classmate present at the funeral but Lorraine Edgerton,Hallie Smith, and Arthur Holmes' daughter were present. Flowers from the class were sent by Francis. Elizabeth French wrote the Class a very nice letter thanking Francis for attending the funeral and for calling on the family at the house afterwards.
Genevieve Dakin died on June 16, 1968 after a long illness. She had been married to Walter for 62 years.
The Class Treasurer's report shows that the Class is still solvent but Francis hopes that more classmates will send in their dues as soon as possible.
Members of 1906 should be proud of their record in the 1968 Alumni Fund. The total was $5709.58 which was $877.72 more than in 1967. Included in the 1968 total was the sum of $2129.72 given by the class widows and friends.
