John Clough, winner of the NCAA slalom, giant slalom and combined titles while a senior at Middlebury College, has been named to assist Dartmouth ski coach Al Merrill. Clough has been a part-time assistant for two years and becomes the first full-time aide in the history of the Dartmouth ski program.

Dartmouth's rebuilding basketball team suffered a rough blow on the opening day of practice when Henry Tyson, an All-Ivy second-team selection at guard last year, was lost for the season with a kidney injury. Tyson, who is from East Chicago, Ind., led the Big Green in scoring last year with a 14.3-point average. The Indians play a 25-game schedule which opens December 2 against Vermont and includes an appearance in the Queen City Tournament in Buffalo, N. Y., December 27-28.

Brown will meet Yale and Clarkson tackles Dartmouth in the opening round of the ECAC Holiday Hockey Tournament which is scheduled for December 19-20 in New York's Madison Square Garden. This is Dartmouth's first appearance in the ECAC Festival. Losers and winners in the opening games will play on December 20. Coach Ab Oakes' skaters looked much improved over last season as they battled a strong Merrimack College sextet on even terms before bowing 7-6.
