Led by Capt. Brian McCloskey, a 5'-5", 140-pound piece of pleasant watching from North Vancouver, 8.C., the frosh hockey team had a 13-5 record even though they spent most of the season skating with a dozen (give or take one) men. Four of the losses were to the unbeaten Brown and Harvard freshmen, but the record really doesn't matter because guys like McCloskey (the scoring leader with 42 points), goalie Jeff Sollows, and defensemen Ronnie Dove and Andy Benson will help the varsity picture.

In the middle of the frosh basketball season, high-scorer Larry Cubas from Staten Island, N.Y., broke his hand. He had a 19.7-point average when he was lost but Steve Mele, the scrapping guard from Quincy, Mass., teamed with forward Bill Hooper and guards John Lisowski and Larry Clark to generate a 7-2 stretch drive and a 10-6 final record. Mele, hitting 57 per cent from the floor, had a 17.3-point average, and Hooper, a rugged 6'-2", helped take charge of the rebounding.

The jayvee squash team and jayvee swimmers finished at 5-5 and 7-1 respectively and jayvee track was 1-1. Dave Bennett, Doug Ireland, and Alan Gordon were the top three in squash, while freestylers Vin Laudone and Don Burkhardt were most consistent in the jayvee swimming picture.
