With only two games played so far, it's still difficult to develop a true assessment of the Class of 1973's football capabilities.

Without going onto a limb, though, it looks promising.

The two games thus far for the "A" team found the Pea Green taking a 13-0 win from the Vermont freshmen and then routing the Brown Cubs 40-6.

The latter win was particularly sweet for Coach John Curtis as the Little Indians avenged last year's loss to Brown and did it in stunning fashion. Behind the running of halfbacks Charlie Box (he went 63 yards on the second play of the game) and Chuck Thomas and the play direction of quarterback Steve Stetson, the Pea Green amassed 437 yards rushing while the defense limited Brown to a net of five yards on the ground.

The defensive unit is truly a beef trust. Tackles Tom Ryan, Tom Tarazevits (both from Long Island), and Josh Holloway from Virginia's eastern shore, are giants in the 240 to 260 pound range, and defensive end Fred Radke (Maine) and linebacker Doug Jaeger (Minnesota) are dynamic midgets at 215-225 pounds.

A third game on the early season schedule with Holy Cross was postponed as a precaution following the hepatitis outbreak on the Crusader varsity. None of the Crusader freshmen was affected and the game will be played November 22.
