Approximately fifty alumni, wives, undergraduates and dates' attended the annual meeting of the Dartmouth Club of Georgia at the Marriott Motor Hotel on the evening of December 19. There was a reception from 6:30 to 8 P.M. and Larry Russell '54, banquet manager for the Marriott, then produced a truly great dinner commencing at 8 P.M. The Club is certainly indebted to Larry for the fine facilities made available to us, right down to an ice carving of an Indian Chief!
"Kelly" Coffin '43, club president, presided at a brief business meeting following dinner, during which he introduced the undergrad- uates in attendance. They were: John Everett '68, "Leckie" Rives '68, Bill Wendell '70, Jim Jenkins '71, Allen Jackson '71, and Willis Newton '71. Several of the students brought dates to the party and they added immeasurably to the gathering.
Dick Everett '40, newly elected Alumni Council member, reported on the "recruiting" results of 1967 and plans for '68 enrollment. Announcement was made of a party for prospective candidates and vacationing undergraduates at Dick's home on Saturday afternoon, December 23.
The Club's "official" appreciation was tendered the Bill Marshes '31 for their wonderful hospitality at the fall meeting which was held at their home.
The highlight of the evening was a talk by Dean Charles F. "Doc" Dey '52 who kept the entire audience fascinated with his challenging appraisal of today's undergraduates. The Dean will not make you feel comfortable, but he has a fine talent for pulling reaction and disagreement from an audience which invariably makes for a stimulating evening. The questions were still coming at 10:30 when the meeting was adjourned.
Alumni in attendance were: Bob Bruce '30, Kelly Coffin '43, Don Crance '43, Jim Everett '66, Dick Everett '40, Lou Fortuna '38, Louis Frick '38, John Granfield '46, Kenneth Herrmann '56, Glower Jones '58, Sam Kilner '49, Bill Marsh '31, Bill Messerly '63, Charles Moses '38, John Per-Lee '51, Ben Read Jr. '62, Homer Rowe '26, Larry Russell '54, Doug Smith '50, John Vaughn '55, David Wiggins '51, and Alva Wilson '25.
