Dick Heydt, president of the First National Bank of Toledo, has been elected president of the Toledo area Chamber of Commerce for 1968. Dick was scheduled to become chairman of the bank's board of directors February 1. He is a member of the boards of the Toledo-Lucas County Port Authority, Seaway Food Town, Inc., Lamson's, Junior Achievement, United Appeal, Toledo Hospital, and Toledo Area Development Corp. Brad Smith was recently publicized as a "modern revolutionary who has battled the industry's old guard for freedom to offer new types of insurance." BobMisch has been engaged as a consultant to Schrafft's to administer and operate their new wine policy. He is scheduled to give wine lectures at Tulane, Emory, Virginia, North Carolina, Union, and Skidmore on the college circuit.
Barrett Lyons has resumed his work at Michigan State graduate school of social work following his year's leave of absence in the Virgin Islands. It's a retirement job, but his appointment terminates in August 1969, when he'll retire again. But this does not mean he'll give up work. He hopes to find a spot in an undergraduate college where elderly visiting professors are taken on for a year or so. As an expert in his field of social work, he does not anticipate any difficulty in getting a job. Of possible interest to those who like to keep in good physical shape, Barrett requires a swimming pool in connection with any new venture. He started "doing lengths" daily about 25 years ago and it has become a way of life with him about three miles a week.
The turnout of '25-ers at the annual Boston Alumni Association dinner is getting to be more disappointing each year. This year the delegation numbered five. Jake Penney traveled all the way from Worcester to join Dutch Clark, Paul Pearson, Don Hunt, and yours truly. Jake suggested that anyone on or near Cape Cod on the first Tuesday of the month should plan to join the Dartmouth luncheon group at Mildred's Chowder House in Hyannis. Dutch is planning to retire from his school job in Waltham this year and settle down in Exeter, N. H. Meanwhile he's going to spend three weeks vacation in Haiti away from the worries of a rigorous New England winter. While Paul will be eligible this fall to retire from his school job in Charlestown, he plans to continue working indefinitely.
