JUNE 1968 GEORGE W. RAND, FREDERICK M. DALEY

Reports from the Woodstock Inn indicate that many of the Class have already made their reservations for next October 11-13 when 1919 convenes for a warm-up for our 50th in June 1969, and to see the Princetons and the Big Green tangle in Memorial Stadium. This is, of course, the big weekend of the fall so please, if you intend to come, get in your reservation as soon as possible. Also, if you are not coming to Woodstock, and want to come to the luncheon before the game at the Tavern Room in the Hanover Inn - festivities start at 11:30 - please advise your Secretary. Due to changes in the Inn, the limit for lunch is 75 people.

A note from the horse racing world from Greif Raible "What a sojourn in Florida - Kay got pneumonia - I an infected antrim!! Horse (Irish Whirl) kicked stall and couldn't run. Thanks for the card — never thought I would make it. We'll be at the Princeton game."

Norm Jeavons comes through with one of his rare ones, "The usual class birthday card arrived and it is a wonderful thoughtful gesture. Though I tremble, stutter, and blink I really can't believe I am now 72. Of course you know I am very ambitious, stirred by the desire to be arrested and confined for rape at the good old age of 92. After all, why not have some fun? The world is too serious anyway. Will see you in Woodstock in the fall."

Charlie Warner was in nearby Fort Lauderdale for six weeks but missed seeing him this year. The Warners took in the '18 Pow Wow in Lauderdale along with the Cogswells and reported a fine time. Charlie reported seeing King Cole when he was in the South, and also that he will get to our reunion in June '69.

Trace Kohl reports, "Your column is still paying off with surprise visits of '19ers. The big one a few weeks ago was a call from Rock Hayes from a local motel. I could hardly believe he ever got this far from Boston and a DJ ticker. But we certainly enjoyed his detour en route to California. And the news he brought from you hurricane dodgers was a memory vibrator; especially Coke McCreery with whom I shared a Hitchcock shower. Also Ernie Rautenberg, who plans to move to the Valley of the Sun - Phoenix." Trace missed seeing BuddWelsh who was elsewhere this past winter.

It is sad to report the passing of FrederickA. Blanpied in March and the Class extends its most sincere sympathy to his family.

Harry Colwell notes that Sam Sheldon is in Woodstock - the last we heard of Sam was that he was in Middlebury, Vt. Harry also realized that 1969 is his 50th — he knew that - but it will be also his son Ted's 25th and his granddaughter's graduation from Middlebury. Seems as though the Colwells might be busy come June 1969. Had a card from Marie Drane from Bermuda where she is having a fine time and would like to stay longer. Harry has had physical troubles (don't we all) but is on the mend now. Chet and Emily Gale got out of Buffalo snow for a week at the Ponte Vedra Club (Fla.) and quite naturally teamed up with the Jacksons. Chet and Fat had several games of golf and the bulletins received by your Secretary indicated a standoff - Chet really took the old baking man on the first day but the second time around Fat recovered and took the round by one stroke. The rubber match was rained out.

Charlie Mills of Cleveland continues teaching part time, and the Millses passed up a trip to the Scandinavian countries to visit their daughter in Denver, where they will eventually make their home when Mrs. Mills retires from her teaching.

Last call for the 1968 Alumni Fund - although our hard working Class Agent FredDaley had to go to Boston to see the medicos, he is in fine shape now but did have to cut short his stay in Venice, Fla. We are hard pressed to meet our quota this year but a realistic gift from each classmate should do the trick.

Ed and Jessie Fiske were in Delray for dinner in April and we had a fine time with the Kennebunkport flash although he wasn't here long enough for a golf game. The Gerry Cutlers '21 also came down from Palm Beach for a most enjoyable lunch.

You will next read my feeble comments (I hope) in the October issue of the MAGAZINE. During the summer keep the news of your activities coming to both Batch and your Secretary.
