Vaughn Berry protests that the youngsters in the Dartmouth family in Milwaukee where he lives begin to call him "the oldest living alumnus," a title which seems to him, as to the rest of us, only appropriate for somebody else. He thinks he may find it acceptable in his late ninetiesbut not now!

George Avery, highly regarded Director of the Brooklyn Botanic Garden, and his wife, Virginia, recently spent a month in South Africa and Rhodesia with some associates and friends. How many of you living within a few miles of the Brooklyn Botanic Garden have visited this distinguished collection, recognized as outstanding among its counterparts elsewhere?

On his retirement Al Robinson, long-time insurance executive, took on the task of administrator for his West Hartford Congregational Church. He finds it strenuous but rewarding.

Based in Florida since his "retirement," he is now engaged in a second assignment abroad for the Service Corps, this time in Chile. His first job for the Corps was in Iran. "These are fascinating assignments," says Earl, "offering opportunities for service, and presenting real challenges in terms of language barriers and customs to surmount."

The voice of Ockie Hecht has sounded from the Ohio wilderness. Remembering our many happy associations in the twenties, I was particularly glad that the silence is broken. Ockie is with the First National Bank of Toledo, paying particular attention to the Travel Department. Those of you who recall the now long-ago visit to Hanover of Ockie's attractive young mother (when she seemed more like a sister) will be glad to know that she still lives in Guatemala. Ockie has one daughter and two grandchildren in Toledo, and a second daughter and two grandchildren in Hawaii and California. Any of you who has Ockie's signature on your senior cane will be amused if you can remove enough dust to bring it to light again.

Bob Hayes has remarried. His wife, formerly Bobbie Griffith of Wooster, Ohio, has two teenage daughters. Bob and Bobbie spent Christmas in Lincoln, Neb., with Bobbie's mother. Bob retired from New England Tel & Tel in 1962 and moved from Providence, R. I., to West Salem, Ohio.
