Randy Wallick, captain and offensive end on Dartmouth's football team last fall, is the seventh Big Green scholarathlete to be awarded a $1,000 scholarship for postgraduate study by the National Collegiate Athletic Association. Wallick is a mathematics major from Dixon, Ill., and is one of 33 studentathletes to be honored in December. He is also an Alfred P. Sloan Scholar at Dartmouth.
Other Dartmouth students who received the NCAA scholarship grants include Tony Yezer (football) and Brian Beattie (skiing) in 1966, tennis captain Charlie Hoeveler in 1967, and Hank Paulson (football), Joe Colgan (basketball) and Gene Ryzewicz (baseball) in 1968.
Alex Winn was named to the All-Tournament team for his performance in the Queen City Tournament at Buffalo in December.... Larry Gillis, a senior from Rumford, Me., took first place in the jumping event of the Torger Tokle Memorial Tournament at Bear Mountain, N. Y., and on the same weekend in January he also won the Great Gorge (N. J.) Invitational Jump and the Great Gorge cross-country race.... Sophomore Charlie Silcox, a halfback from Gladwyne, Pa., was named to the Coaches' All-Ivy League first team in soccer and also received All-America honorable mention. ... Defensive end Pete Lawrence (Cherry Hill, N. J.) was named to the All-Ivy football team while co-captain-elect Ernie Babcock (Milton, Mass.) was given AllNew England recognition at defensive tackle by The Associated Press and TheBoston Record-American.
