Final records for other freshman sports are golf (1-5), lacrosse (2-7), tennis (4-2), track (5-1), and crew (heavies 3-16), (lights 1-13). .. . Overall varsity records for the 1968-69 season came to 101 victories, 104 losses, and four ties. In freshman competition, the cumulative record was 72-68-1. These records are for dual and triangular competition only. . . . Del Benjamin, an outstanding long-jumper and triple as an undergraduate at Manhattan College (he's a 1968 graduate), has been named assistant track coach at Dartmouth. . . . Bob McAteer, a graduate of LaSalle and Villanova Law School who was an All-America basketball player at LaSalle, will succeed Gary Walters as assistant coach on Dartmouth's basketball staff. Walters is the new head basketball coach at Middlebury. . . . Diver Mike Brown and butterfly specialist Al Rheem, both from Denver, Colo., have been named to the 1969 All-America swim team picked by the NCAA coaches association. . . . The James Henry Cooke Trophy for contribution to Dartmouth's baseball team has been presented to catcher Jon Hanshus, a senior from Eau Claire, Wis. .. . Three juniors - basketball captain Greg Pickering (Hampton, N. H.), lacrosse manager Stew Rosenblum (Stamford, Conn.) and Preston Conklin (Dallas, Tex.) — have been named as student representatives to the Athletic Council. Conklin is student director of intramural athletics. . . . Retiring track coach Ellie Noyes, ski coach Al Merrill, and Mike McGean, the College secretary who is active in figure skating, have been returned as NCAA representatives in their respective sports to the U.S. Olympic Committee.
