With a 28-0 win over Penn, Dartmouth completed an undefeated season, won the Ivy League football championship again, and strengthened its claim to the Lambert Trophy, symbolic of the East's best team. The shutout was the team's fourth in a row and sixth of the season, assuring Dartmouth of its No. 1 ranking in the nation in scoring defense, with an average of only 4.7 points per game.
John Short scored three of the Green's four touchdowns at Penn, one rushing and two on passes from Jim Chasey. The 154 yards he gained rushing gave him a season total of 787 for a new Dartmouth record.
Second place in the Ivy League was shared by Harvard and Yale (5-2) when the Crimson upset Yale 14-12 in the season finale.
