Those who thought that the mood of the campus this fall would pick up where it had left off last spring have been surprised by the calm that has generally prevailed. Not even the November elections produced much excitement. Dartmouth's extraordinary football team, of course, has dominated the extracurricular scene and has provided an outlet for most of the emotional steam that has been generated. Conversations with undergraduates bring out the fact that students are hitting the books exceptionally hard this term, but no one has given any special reason for this, other than to say that it is the prevailing thing.

Fall term classes end December 10, and final exams will run through the 15th. After a Christmas recess of 19 days, the winter term will begin at 8 a.m. on Monday, January 4.
