EDITOR'S NOTE: We are saddened to report the death of Class Secretary GeorgePutnam on April 7. The following notes were received from him just a few days before his passing, which occurred suddenly as the result of a stroke.
The Class of 1905 is grateful to Roger Brown for engineering the restoration of the portrait of the Second Earl of Dartmouth. This restoration will be an important addition to the art treasures which adorn Dartmouth walls. You of the Class will note the print of this portrait shown in the '05 Class column of the March ALUMNIMAGAZINE. Roger is apparently showing the painting to Truman Brackett Jr. '55, Director of Galleries, Hopkins Center.
You will recall that last month mention was made of the fact that "Cy" White had lost his car in an accident. We are happy to confirm the statement that Cy himself fortunately escaped any severe injury. By bus and through the kindness of friends and his housekeeper who has a car, Cy manages to see Hilda several times a week and attend to his law practice. Hilda is doing quite well he reports.
With sorrow I report the death of "Charlie" Brooks March 16. His had been a long, courageous struggle against ill health. A loyal member of our Class, Charlie with Jessie was a regular attendant at class reunions as far as his health would allow. The Class extends their deep sympathy to Jessie in her sad loss.
In due course you will receive information concerning the details of our "big" reunion. A kind note from Jane Lawrence mentions that she has been writing to various '05 widows. We thank Jane for her effort to help achieve a good attendance at our last formal reunion. Aughty five up!
