We have no recent news of CharlieBrooks - we hope that no news is good news - but when Mildred and I called on him in September, he was recovering from the operation he had undergone in the Derry Hospital and the fall he had suffered after his return home. It is a great help to Jessie and Charlie that their foster-daughter Helen is with them and is helping to keep house. In spite of his lack of strength, Charlie was still carrying on his duties as Justice of the Peace. We earnestly hope and pray that Charlie may continue to gain in strength and health.
In the passing of Ned Estes we of the Class of 1905 and the world have lost a distinguished organist, an able teacher, and a kind, loyal friend. In addition he was an ardent gardener and found joy and comfort in tending his flowers and vegetables. He was born in Somersworth, N. H., in 1882. A memorial service was held September 19 at the First Parish Congregational Church in Dover, N. H., where he had served so long and faithfully after his retirement from Robert College. A burial service took place September 20 at the Newton Cemetery, Newton, Mass. Further details of Ned's career will appear in the In Memoriam section of this or a subsequent issue.
It would seem that Roger Brown, with Jane, is building up a top record in getting around and calling on members of our Class - in addition to his record in attendance at the Alumni College and in other ways. For example, besides calling on the Brookses, Roger and Jane had a pleasant visit with the Whites in Falmouth Foreside, and had dinner with C.C. Hills in Hanover where they went for the first football game.
It is noteworthy that James Corcoran Donnelly Ill is the grandson of our 1905 Jim Donnelly. He was Class Marshal at this year's commencement and had achieved a distinguished major in English - a credit to his grandfather.
