"Hopkins House" will be the name of the new guest house being erected by the National Life Insurance Company of Vermont on a two-acre plot near the firm's home office in Montpelier, Vt. The firm's directors at their autumn quarterly meeting selected the name in tribute to the late President Ernest Martin Hopkins, former company president, board chairman, and long-time director. After retiring from the presidency of Dartmouth, he headed National Life for two years and served as its chairman for 14 years until his death in 1964. He had joined the board of directors in 1933.
The two-story colonial-style building, with 12 guest rooms to accommodate visiting sales, investment, and other company personnel, is expected to be finished May 1.
