Our hearts were there. At the Old Cemetery on Thursday April 9, at 1 P.M. when a brief Committal Service was read for Nathaniel G. Burleigh in Hanover. And in the White Church, at 2 P.M. where a Memorial Service was said. Sincerity and good will. Present at that time were WarrenKimball, John Learoyd, Rebecca and ArtShepherd representing many others unable to attend, classmates and friends, who recognized in Nat an upright person of great capacity and achievement. May he rest in peace.
Among those whom we know have addressed letters to Mrs. Burleigh are Red McLaughlin, Ben Livingston, James Irwin, and James Malley.
Fred McLaughlin sends on a clipping from the Birmingham News showing, in color, the Dartmouth heavyweight oarsmen training near Kowaliga Beach in March. If they beat last year's record, it will be better than 21-10.
The Dartmouth Glee Club was in Garden City a week or so ago, giving a performance under the auspices of the Long Island Alumni Association. They received a most enthusiastic ovation at the end of the first half of the program, and a much more enthusiastic ovation at the conclusion of the entire program, with encores. If you have a chance to hear them, go. You'll thank me for urging you to do so.
On Hopkinton Road, northward out of Contoocook, N. H., stands the residence of our newly-elected Class President, Warren F. Kimball and Mrs. Kimball. Across the highway, and part of the "estate," is a sloping field which ends in a sharp rise in the ground sufficient to permit the establishment of a pond for the enjoyment of birds, for the breeding of fish, and, near its outlet an area for young humans to dive and swim. In the wooded area just beyond and on a sharp rise, stands a chalet, designed and built by the owner for the accommodation of visiting nephews, nieces, etc. It was a quiet, peaceful, though chilly spot, the last few days of April. But come warmer weather, it will be the scene of much activity as the nieces and nephews of the "Warren Kimballs" arrive from near and far for their summer vacations.
