It is with deep regret that we record the recent death of another classmate Dr. Rolf C. (Spim) Norris. Although his health had failed in recent years, Spim had completed arrangements to attend the 65th Reunion in June. See the obituary section in this issue.

Our Head Class Agent John Learoyd wishes to inform participants in the current Alumni Fund Drive that his customary contacts with contributors will be considerably curtailed by the increased cost of postage. However, he expresses confidence in your intent to carry on as usual, in the absence of his former type of communications. John reports a change of address to One Monument Square, Apartment 14 (F), Beverly, Mass. 01915.

A quite lengthy letter was received from True Dudley telling of his activities in and around Huntsville, Ala. True, a man of deeply religious convictions, writes that he devotes a great part of his time to corresponding with friends, relatives and others to whom his words can bring help and comfort. He visits the sick and infirm in hospitals, offering them encouragement and the will to try to overcome their afflictions through faith. By way of comment, may 1 say it is difficult to conceive of any more useful and worthy purpose in life than that devoted so freely to aiding the lot of the less fortunates. He states further that he is quartered in a complex with 206 apartments, all occupied, within walking distance of a variety of facilities that serve his every need. Finally, he advises that he plans to attend our 65th Reunion, where I am sure he will be most welcome.

A call was received from Henry Smith inquiring about reservations for reunion, indicating his intention to attend.

A refreshing youthful touch has been added to our reunion plans, establishing a common bond between specified upcoming graduates next June and their ancestral counterparts of 65 years ago. A fine letter was received from Horace G. Hedges Jr. '45, son of "Cap" Hedges '11, advising that his daughter Nancy was to be a graduate in the Class of '76. It was also learned that Marian (Mrs. Warren C.) Agry has a grandson in this year's graduating class. Accordingly, the Class of 1911 extended an invitation to these two '76ers, and their parents, to be our honored guests at one of our dinners to be held on Friday and Saturday nights. Plans have not been finalized but we can anticipate their presence at dinner, or the social hour to be held preceding each dinner.

According to the most reliable returns received to date, it is understood that the following are planning to attend our 65th Reunion: Marian Agry, Ruth Backus, Mary Chase, Cheney, the Ken Clarks, Dudley, Doro.thy Gooding, the Wee Kimballs, Learoyd, Smith, Waterbury, Winship. It is doubtful that the Mert Wilsons can attend due to a conflict on June 12 between our Reunion and a ceremony being held in his parish to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Mert's ordination.

From Wee Kimball: As of April 7 (the deadline date for these notes), 27 of the 34 living 1911'ers had responded to our March 23 questionnaire on the Trustees' decision about the Equal Access dilemma and expressed their convictions and opinions as requested by Trustee Andres. 26 (plus 1 abstention) were in favor of retaining the 3:1 ratio and never reducing the males below 3,000 BUT if more females have to be admitted or are desired for any reason, do it gradually with no dealline dates and only as fast as more needed funds have been secured in amount sufficient to avoid deficit financing in future. Did not feel that the recent traumatic and divisive actions are needed now or are good for Dartmouth College. Felt the Equal Access Project, which started the dilemma discussion, should be put on an equal rather than on a preferred footing with all other phases of Dartmouth's needs and activities, with financing and other problems handled exactly the same as many other special projects have been handled in the past.
