JULY 1970 JACK DE GANGE

At this juncture, it's wait and see what happens at Ohio State. As he had projected, Dartmouth golf coach Bill Johnson's team charged home to an undefeated season (12-0) and is working on a string of 23 straight dual meet victories.

The Indians' triumph in the Eastern Intercollegiates (the first since 1941) earned them the trip to the NCAA championships at Columbus, Ohio. Now, just as in baseball, the Green is pitted against the best of the nation's intercollegiate golfers.

Captain Sandy McWilliams, the Eastern champion, headed the Dartmouth contingent that had a new face in the ranks due to the slow recovery of Dave Hill from surgery that was designed to correct a hockey injury. In Hill's place was junior Clarke Nims from Greenfield, Mass. The rest of the squad included seniors Ken Kotowski and Mark Hallenbeck and Captain-elect Marsh Gavre.

Kotowski, McWilliams and Gavre all were rated as possible contenders for individual honors at the NCAA tourney.
