The Indian track team was the only spring squad that didn't head for warm climes during the vacation break, and the unfortunate part of the matter is that Colgate did. Dartmouth opened its outdoor season against the Red Raiders in Hamilton, N. Y., and Colgate showed the benefits of some vacation training to score an 83-70 victory.

There was a definite bright side to the meet, however, as DeWitt Davies, the powerful junior, established a Dartmouth record by hurling the 16-pound hammer 182' 1½" and teammate Frank Howard welcomed the outdoor campaign with a meet record of 159' 11 3/4in the discus.

The Indians began to show their mettle still more in the Boston College Relays. Davies again won the hammer and highjumper Chet Halka and Howard collected points for Dartmouth in the rain-abbreviated meet.
