Anew system for classifying enrollment-admissions districts, based on Zip Codes rather than arbitrarily assigned numbers, has been inaugurated this year by the Dartmouth Admissions Office.
The change will permit more efficient clerical procedures for processing applications for admission, assigning responsibilities for interviews, and notifying alumni interviewing committees and schools, according to Admissions Director Edward T. Chamberlain Jr. '36. It will also make better use of the College's computer and data processing systems.
The new numbers use the first three digits of the appropriate Zip Code. When the district covers more than one Zip Code area, the Zip most common to the district has been used. The districts have the same geographical limits as before; only the numbers have been changed.
