President Kemeny has made several changes in his office staff following the appointment of Gilbert R. Tanis '38, for 12 years Executive Officer of the College, to be first Director of Continuing Education.
A. Alexander Fanelli '42, a former faculty member and special assistant to the President since 1967, will become Executive Assistant, with responsibility for liaison with the Board of Trustees and the Alumni Office and supervision of information services. Mr. Fanelli will assume his new duties on his return from Italy, where he is spending the fall term supervising the Foreign Study Program in Florence.
Mrs. Lucretia L. Sterling, former research assistant to the President, has succeeded Mr. Fanelli as special assistant. The wife of Richard W. Sterling, Professor of Government, she will be responsible for special projects, correspondence, and informal liaison with faculty, administrative officers, and the local community.
Winthrop A. Rockwell '70 has been appointed to a new position as assistant to the President, to deal primarily with student concerns and relationships between the College and recent graduates.
