Joseph Patrick Carney '98, lawyer, bank president, industrialist, and holder of a number of top Massachusetts political appointments during the Franklin Roosevelt administration, is Dartmouth's oldest living alumnus at the age of 94. He was born March 19, 1876. Once called "New England's Industrial Doctor" by the Boston Post because of his ability to revive faltering companies, Mr. Carney is still active as chairman of the board of one of his successes, Thayer, Inc., manufacturers of children's furniture.
