Negotiations to settle a four-week strike prevented my attending the New York dinner on March 8, but it is assumed that Herm Schneebeli and Milt McInnes were duly honored for their contributions to Dartmouth, 1930, and the rest of the world, and that Fred Scribner and Vic Borella were brilliant in their citations. Herm is our Pennsylvania representative in the Congress, and Milt, now retired to Heritage Village, Southbury, Conn., was tops in the railroad field, serving as president of the Erie for many years. The choice of Vic to cite Milt was proper since they were railroad, post-college, pre-salad days roommates in Jersey City. JimMitchell, who hosted the New York dinner, reports that he and Genevieve will visit Leningrad and Moscow this summer.

Speaking of strikes it was recently reported that Charlie Rauch's Connecticut Savings Bank had won a union representation election, the first challenge of its kind in New England history. Charlie will visit with Herm Schneebeli and Bob McClory when in Washington for a conference at the National Association of Mutual Savings Banks when he will meet with people from the Treasury, FDIC, FRB and Congress. He recently ran into Ed Weinstein, engineer with Pratt and Whitney Aircraft when they attended a Nikon Photography School in Windsor. Ed says he is about to retire.

Sam Allen of Culver, Ind., has been awarded the Jaycees' Distinguished Service Award. Sam, who operates the West Shore Boat Service, has been active in Boy Scout work, is a life member of the Speleological Society, and has served on the board of trustees of his church.

Chick Pooler was remarried to Patricia Powers two years ago and they live on PGA golf course in Palm Beach Gardens. Youngest daughter Priscilla is at Beloit College. Youngest son Bill will enter next year. Although Chick missed our 40th he hopes to get back this year for one of our reunions. No better place to start than the Haffenreflers' chicken barbecue at Little Compton, R. I. on Saturday, June 26. Dick Bowlen adds to his biography the fact that he has been made a director of the American Heart Association as well as serving as assistant treasurer of the City of Keene and treasurer of .the Walpole Fire District.

Ted and Ida Childs will move to their Cape Cod home in Yarmouthport in March. Ted has completed 36 years in the voluntary hospital system at New York Hospital, Long Island College Hospital, Brockton Hospital, and Lenox Hill in New York. It was good to hear from Dorothy Luttrell that although Dick has been in a nursing home for many years he still retains his interest in the class. He is presently at the Austin Nursing and Convalescent Center in Austin, Texas. Another retiree is Bob Ryan of Montpelier who was vice president of the Chittenden Trust Company. However he plans to continue the practice of law and will remain a bank director. Bob Jr. is at UVM Medical School.

Little Compton, June 26, Chicken Delight.
