Kathryn Chamberlin, who retired in Jyne as Executive Secretary of the Committee on Graduate Fellowships, has been named College Ombudsman.
She succeeds William A. Carter '20, the first to fill the position, who served for 18 months following his retirement as Professor of Economics.
Mrs. Chamberlin graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Wellesley and earned a Bachelor of Divinity degree from Union Theological Seminary and a Ph.D. from the University of Chicago. She taught at Northfield Seminary and The Masters School in Dobbs Ferry, N. Y., and served as Executive Secretary of the YWCA and Lecturer in Religion at Stanford University before joining the Dartmouth staff in 1961.
As ombudsman, Mrs. Chamberlin will be responsible for hearing and investigating grievances from all members of the college community and seeking their resolution through established channels of communication and administrative procedures of the College.
