During college Fritz Meyer of Nashotah, Wis. was extremely active in the Ledyard Canoe Club. This tradition is being carried on by Fritz Meyer '73. During the Summer Olympic Games, the Boston Globe carried an article from Augsburg, Germany stating: "Fritz Meyer, the current president of Ledyard, is an assistant coach here with the American team and four other past presidents of the club are on the squad either as competitors or coaches."
Eddie Eldridge of Cleveland visited his daughter Martha and his son-in-law in Hanover during the summer. His son-in-law is a resident in surgery at Mary Hitchcock Memorial Hospital.
In August, John and Jean Meek announced the engagement of their daughter Julie to Charles B. Hamlin of Marblehead. He is marketing manager for Hood Sailmakers, Inc. and incidentally rowed in the 1968 Olympics in Mexico City as a member of the United States Four without coxswain. They plan to be married on October 28.
Wes and Jan Beattie's daughter Susan and her husband, Tom Pugh '71, had a daughter, Aimee Elizabeth, on September 3 in Minneapolis.
Mel and Ruth Katz have purchased land at Quechee Lakes so sometime in the future they will become residents of the Hanover area.

Our Memorial Book Program at Baker Library continues. Thank you notes have been recently received from Alice Flaccus and Patty Dutcher. In her letter Patty writes: "You might be interested that our son David, after a very undistinguished year at Dartmouth, joined the Marines and after his year's service in Vietnam, went to the University in Okinawa, lived in a Japanese home and learned to speak Japanese fluently. He transferred to the University of Hawaii and graduated with honors in Japanese. He won a grant from the Japanese government to do graduate work in Japanese literature at the University in Sendai (250 miles north of Tokyo). He met his wife, Kuniko, a darling little Japanese girl from Tokyo, at the University of Hawaii. She speaks English fluently—in fact they are both earning extra money by teaching English in Sendai. Well anyway, Jerry was enormously proud of him. Thanks again for your nice letter."
Our 40th Reunion will be June 11-14 so make your plans to be in Hanover for those great days!!
