From New York City comes word from Joe Brewer that he recently spent two months in Greece with a friend who teaches Greek and Ancient History at Ohio State. Together they covered most of the major archeological sites and many of the lesser and more obscure ones. This must have been a most interesting journey, Joe. In November Dr. Brewer plans a visit with an architect friend in Puerto Rico, following which comes a quick trip to Sicily for Christmas.

Paul and Dorothea Bewerman have returned from a trip abroad to some of Paul's old foreign service haunts. Following a visit in Rome for two weeks they then went to Zagreb and down the Dalmatian coast to the little island of Hvar where they settled down for a month.

Ed Maling from Menlo Park, Cal., sends greetings but no news of himself other than he is living a quiet life.

Sunny Sunergren joined the ranks of retirees on March 1, 1972. Now, Sunny, you can do all those things you have always wanted to do—and at your own pace, too. No more dead lines to meet, et cetera, et cetera, et cetera.

From Bluefield, W. Va., not far from Athens, W. Va., and Concord College comes word from Dr. J. Ernest Martin that he has retired after serving 35 years as Chief of Dental Services at the Lakin State Hospital. He is moving into retirement slowly, however, by holding office hours 15 hours a week. "Ernie" is a graduate of the Boston Latin School and says he hears regularly from Paul Richter who keeps him posted on the Boston Latin School affairs.

Art Pfeiffer writes to Al Frey from Scottsdale, Ariz., "My son Bruce and I will have our new Frank Lloyd Wright home completed in November. Will send picture and details at that time." Jack Mayer, who visited Art last Spring, sent along a picture of Art and Jack standing in the midst of the basic structure of Art's new home. It is a most interesting design.

Warren Turner in Rumson, N. J., avers that were it not for a "bad back" he would drive to New Hampshire for a visit but that physical disability confines him to his own three acres which he cultivates as assiduously as he can. He claims, however, that "he don't do nothin'; he don't say nothin'; he just keeps rollin' along." A slight exaggeration, no doubt, but we are very glad to hear from you, Warren.

Green Bay, Wis., is the home of the Green Bay Packers and also James F.Daniell who sends word that he has to play down physical activity for reasons of health. Jim is wintering in San Diego because he can no longer enjoy the Green Bay winters. We quite understand your view point, Jim. We found the Hanover, N. H., winters—November to May—were a little longer than we could bear so we moved to the Valley of the Sun in Phoenix.

Wes Carr Jr. summers in his cottage on Cape Cod then returns to his home in Mansfield, Ohio, between visits with his son in Memphis and his daughter in Los Angeles during the winter months.

Ernest "Red" Tillson has long resided at 26 The Great Road in Bedford, Mass. He reports, however, that he is changing his address to 1 Benvenue Street, Wellesley, Mass., 02181, this fall. Will duly report the change, Red, to the Alumni Office. And, by the way, "Happy Birthday to You."

Via McGoughran to Frey to Carter comes the news that Mel Merritt has sold his lovely home in Chestnut Hill, Mass., to take up residence in Delray Beach, Fla., where he will be Charlie Mac's neighbor. Another tidbit from Prexy McGoughran concerns Eddie Bowen who, with Virginia, is touring the Dalmatian area, tracing ancestry. Charlie also writes that LaddieMyers is working hard to wrap up successfully our drive for funds for the Tommy Thomson Memorial Fund. If you have overlooked this worthy objective to honor one of 1920's truly great men the opportunity will soon be lost to you unless you take immediate action.

Len and Marie Davis have returned to their home in LaGrange, Ill., after spending the summer at York Beach, Me. They apparently attended the mid-summer picnic at Bob Burrough's Canterbury, N. H., farm. Last spring they visited their son Harry in Brussels where Harry is teaching at the Institute there. Harry has been asked to stay on another year and has consented to do so.

Now it is time to extend Seasons Greetings for 1972. Writing these notes in mid-October for a November 2 deadline and incorporating therein Christmas Greetings does seem a little incongruous and slightly unseasonable from this man's location with bright sunshine and the thermometer hovering close to the nineties, but here they are with every good wish for the New Year.

A closing sad note. Col. Dick Hayes passed on October 2 at the St. Johns Hospital in Santa Monica, Cal. Our deepest sympathy goes to his wife, Helen.

Adios, amigos.
