In celebration of their recent happy journey to the Orient (Japan and China), Dairis andArthur Pfeiffer invited about 40 close friends to Arthur's 82nd birthday dinner at the lovely Arizona Country Club in Scottsdale. Among their friends was a large contingent of Dartmouth folks: Frank and Claire Poor '26; George and Diana Blaesi '32; Schuyler and Betsey French '3B; Duncan and Phyllis Newell '36; and Bill and Laura Carter. Art was his usual vibrant self and gladly demonstrated his terpsichorean skill. No partner escaped him as he smoothly glided over the floor. A charming host and hostess, the Pfeiffers presided over a gala occasion. The memories of this party will never be forgotten by its attendees.

From beautiful Santa Barbara, Calif., Al Steinbrecher writes via Al Frey that his doctor dismissed him from his annual physical exam with this ejaculation: "Get out. You are disgustingly healthy." Al continues his amateur radio hobby, being very active in MARS, the military affiliate radio system so helpful during the late war in Vietnam. On September 21, he and Helen celebrated their 58th anniversary at the Montecito Country Club with the local Lawn Bowlers. Al no longer plays golf. A fine report, Al. Now keep June 1980 in mind, and we will get a personal report from the Steinbrechers in Hanover, where the 1920 families will gather for their 60th reunion. See you there.

Heard recently from Steve Graves of Novato, Calif., who had a great summer criss-crossing New England in his camper, visiting many relatives and friends, among them Dick Goddard in Connecticut. (The story of this reunion will be related in a later issue in Dick's own words.) Steve managed to snag three gold tennis balls (national "firsts"), bringing his total tennis career record to 14 gold balls! He also became a great-grandfather to a little girl on September 10 and stood by at his oldest grandson's wedding on November 3. Steve has in mind our 60th reunion next June, and, health permitting, he plans to be with us on that gala occasion.

As promised to Dana Grossman, who supervises the editing of all the class notes, I must advise my classmates periodically that color snapshots sent me cannot always be used as requested for technical printing reasons. So if you send one in, it may or may not be able to be used in the MAGAZINE. I can try and Dana can try, but the final decision depends on the quality of proofs from the printer. But interesting black-and-white shots are welcome any time!

With this December issue, Christmas greetings are in order and are duly submitted, together with all good wishes for the New Year.

Remember our 60th reunion June 6-8, 1980. From time to time, we will keep you posted on the development of our program. We will structure it to include the necessary and "must" events to be attended in a body, but will also leave unstructured periods when. one can wander (or sit) wherever one wishes.

No more for now. Adios, amigos. Hasta la vista.
