Spring is just around the corner, we hope, and it looks like an early one. All is quiet on the '13 front. Plenty is heard of the illness and problems which beset most of us at our time of life, but nobody wants to hear about this and it won't be mentioned in this letter. Happy and Healthful birthday greetings to those classmates born in April. Joseph H.Byrnes, "Andy" Comstock, "Vic" Dunbar, John A. F. Randolph, "Cyrus" C.Jones, Lloyd Riford, "Al" Urion.
Marie Barnett, Joe's widow, is at her home in Clearwater, Fla. 1735 Eagles Nest Drive, Bellaire. Mrs. Rubert L. Johnson is now living at 11215 Mayfield Rd., Chardon, Ohio. Mrs. Edwin J. Rutherford of Wyckoff, N. J., died 28 November, 1971.
Ruth and Nelson Gay had dinner with "Bart" and Renza Sheperd at the Nashua Country Club recently and reports they put on a beautiful buffet. All is well with Ruth and Nelson. They have escaped all the cold and flu bugs thus far this winter, despite the fact that a great many of their friends and acquaintances were very sick. Last week they met Ben and Marion Andrews at Riverdale in Peterborough and were treated to a delicious luncheon. They had a good visit and both Ben and Marion looked very well.
Grover Fox wrote me a letter sometime before his death. He recommended reading three books to those particularly interested in the growth and development of this great country: "Mount Hope" by George Howe (From early New England settlements, Indian wars, slave trade, to middle of 19th century), "Land of the Giants" by David Lavender (The drive to the Pacific Northwest, 1750-1950) and "Men to Match My Mountains" by Irving Stone (The opening of the Far West, 1845-1900, the gold rush and the railroad scandals).
