Professor Radway's effort to restore R.O.T.C. at Dartmouth strikes a responsive chord with practically all our classmates. To apply Dr. Pusey's observation on its expulsion at Harvard: It was a "shameful' episode in the history of Dartmouth. We wish Professor Radway success.

John Scotford's son is being dislodged by the new Science Center from the home he has occupied in Hanover for the past 15 years. He has located a stone house overlooking the river in East Thetford. "Chick"Jordan, one of our nicest guys, is plugging along alone in the big house, troubled by failing eyesight and that scourge of old age, —arthritis. "Windy" Winship visits him every Saturday, weather permitting.

Alumni Awards to 1911ers over the years have gone to Chub Sterling, 1959; Nat Burleigh, 1961; Josh Clark, 1962 and Sam Aronowitz, 1971.

Sam Aronowitz reports that Ed Poole is in good shape and reports to his office, one of the largest insurance firms in Albany, every day. Isn't that something, with some of us having been on the shelf for years?

At the joint meeting of the Alumni Council and Trustees in Hanover, the Committee on Class Organization approved a change in the procedure for choosing class officers. Now the nominating committee, appointed by the president, shall nominate not only the executive committee but also designate the president, secretary and treasurer. The president then appoints the other class officers. Heretofore the nominating committee nominated the eleven man executive committee and they in turn elected the president, secretary and treasurer.

John Learoyd, as Head Class Agent, reminds us that the 1972 Alumni Fund campaign is on; and that he has recently joined our great-grandfather club. DorothyBowker has a new address: Bronxville Townhouse, Apt. B-4, 54 Sagamore Road, Bronxville, N.Y. 10708.

Harold S. Card passed away on February 28, and on March 11 we lost John F. Steeves Jr. Obituaries will appear in this or later issues of this Magazine.

Bendy Griswold thought the following letter from Jim Conroy, two days before his death, deserved inclusion in the class notes: "Dear Bendy, Received today report of the Dartmouth Class of 1911 and bill for class dues for the year 1971-72. My check for $6.00 is enclosed. I have been wondering how you were and it appears that you are well and as always in a kicking mood. How are all the Griswolds? Confidentially, the Conroys are doing OK but I had a heart attack earlier in the year and that plus the erosion of so many years has caused my slip to show badly. Thanks for the selfaddressed envelope; you are getting magnanimous in your old age; I thought you would never change. Notwithstanding, our kindrest regards to all the Griswolds. Sincerely, Mary and Jim."

Bill Gooding, Superintendent of Buildings in Hanover for many years, comments on the Indian questions now current in Hanover: "Both of the Dartmouth murals were done while I was behind the scenes in Hanover. The artists were two very different individuals. As a family we were very interested in both murals. All of my children in turn acted as college guides. The Goodings were very fond of the Hovey Room. In fact our daughter had her wedding dinner there. The Hovey Room seemed the light touch needed after the somber seriousness of the Orozco murals. It is too bad that the youth of today do not have more reverence for the past."

Bob Hatch was recovering from surgery the latter part of March, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. R.B. Kimball, 220 Boxford Street, North Andover, Mass. 01845. The recent questionnaire sent to all classmates and widows via LEVEN UP was financed by a grant of $25 sent by Don Cheney to Wee Kimball for special Class expenses. We got the idea from the interesting statistics reported by 1910 in a similar project. The deadline for tabulation of responses to the questionnaire was extended to the end of April which is also the deadline for the June Class notes, so the final tabulation will be reported to the Class in the June Alumni Magazine class notes.
