Henry C. Beck Jr. '38 was appointed chairman of the Board of Overseers of the Thayer School by the Dartmouth Board of Trustees at its April meeting. He will serve a one-year term, replacing David M. Lilly Jr. '39, whose term as an overseer expires June 30.
Three new members were appointed to the Board of Overseers and two men were reappointed for second three-year terms, all effective July 1. The three new appointees are Herbert L. Toor, a nominee of the Board of Trustees; Malcolm Lewis, a nominee of the Board of Overseers; and Thomas A. Barr '49, Th'50, who was nominated by the Dartmouth Society of Engineers. John Brown Cook '29 and Donald N. Frey were reappointed for second terms.
The Thayer School Board of Overseers is made up of three ex officio members, the President of the College, the Dean of the Faculty, and the Dean of the Thayer School, and twelve appointed members. Of the latter, six are nominated by the Trustees, three by the Overseers, and three by the Dartmouth Society of Engineers. Service is limited to two three-year terms.
The three new appointees will replace Mr. Lilly, Robert T. Barr '41, Th' 42, and James H. Wakelin Jr. '32. Other incumbent members are Joseph A. Baute Jr. '52, Th'54, Gordon S. Brown, Honorary "64, Samuel C. Florman '46, Ralph W. Hunter '31, William F. May, and John E. Schlachtenhaufen '61, Th'63.
