The Falconers took their usual New England trip in June. I talked to them by phone at the Hanover Inn, as we did not take a trip to New Hampshire. Bob climbed Baker Tower, something I always hoped to do. Bob, always a generous '05 contributor to the Fund, topped the list for 1973. Edna does most of the driving. They are both very fortunate to be in such good physical health.

Ida Parkinson had her 60th Reunion at Whitman College, Walla Walla, Wash., on May 26. It was a very special occasion. We of 1905 sent her one half dozen red roses which she appreciated very much and she sends thanks to you all. August 31 was Ida's birthday and we talked by telephone. Early in the summer she sent $100 to have Royal listed in the special Perpetual Memorial Fund.

Mrs. Mary Wilkins is our oldest living widow, born March 12, 1882, and sets an example for us all to follow. She writes that with her daughter Ann Park they "have just returned from a week's visit to Sherwood, Ore., where Joan Parker Christensen lives with her husband John and two children, Erik (3½) and Rachel (1). Most beautiful place we have ever been to outside New England."

Janet Mulquenney Blanchard writes, "I'm sending a check for $10 because I would enjoy the Alumni Magazine and there are so few left to pay dues."

On August 22 Ed Tuck '50 telephoned to tell of Marion Tuck's death. She died in the Ormand Beach Hospital. The service was held in Worcester, Mass. Marion was a 1918 classmate of Charlotte Ford Morrison at Simmons. Contributions in lieu of flowers can be made to the American Cancer Fund.

' A note from Herford Elliott reports that he had a checkup at Deaconess Hospital, which showed a slight heart condition. He is back home but restricted as to gardening and taking things very cautiously. Herford has one sister, retired from the University of Michigan, and now living in Ann Arbor.

Charles Hodgman celebrated his 92nd birthday on September 22. We talked to him earlier and learned that his daughter spent four days with him. Her husband is a professor of forest soils at Cornell. Charles' son is still in Cleveland, Ohio, where he is an architect and looking forward to retirement. Charles enjoys his home and friends and will stay in Milford as long as he is able to get around.

Ernest White had his 90th birthday September 6 and a big celebration was held with 20 friends and relatives on hand. His son Richard called from California. Hilda seems pretty well but is entirely deaf. Ernest's grandson Ben is now in his last year at Holderness with Ed Tuck's son and hopefully they will both enter Dartmouth next year.

Mildred Putnam had a busy summer, attending Dartmouth Commencement where George's namesake George Putnam Butterworth graduated magna cum laude. Then she went to the Maine Coast and on the way home stopped to congratulate Ernest on his birthday.

Fred Chase says he hopes to go to Florida by train but cannot go without his very efficient housekeeper. Like the rest of us 1905 folk, old age is creeping up and we are slowing down. Fred has not been to Dartmouth so far this year.

Birthdays coming: Blatner, 90 on November 1 and Hills 92 on November 19.

Jane and I have had a good summer. Jane got her driver's license renewed and my eyes are very good so I expect to get my license in December. However, night driving is out for both.

I want to give my best thanks for the wonderful support from all the folks of 1905.
