There was little news received during the summer and early fall but what came through had very sad import.

In the middle of September tragedy struck MiltAronowitz. Bernice Mason, Bill Mason's widow and a life-long friend of the Aronowitz family, phoned that Milt's wife Gretchen and her sister Grace were killed in an auto accident. Sam, Milt's brother. Class of 1911, also a passenger in the car, was seriously injured and was taken to a hospital where he was placed in the emergency ward. Efforts to save his life proved unsuccessful and he succumbed to his injuries. The family had just recently moved to their new home at 13 Marion Ave, Albany, N.Y. 12203. Milt would have been with them but stayed home with a cold and so was not involved. The Class sends heartfelt sympathy to Milt and his family.

Bill Terry writes that he is in "low gear" waiting for the surgeon's O.K. to get contact lenses for his left eye. It has been the iridectomy part that has held things up for him. He says that a new heat record has been established there in Arizona - 112 days of temperature of 100 degrees or over. The old record of continuous 100 or plus was in 1958 for 110 days.

Here in New England we are having fine, cool weather and football is in the air. New Hampshire held off the Big Green 10 to 9 for their first win over Dartmouth. The loss was the first on opening day for Dartmouth since 1959. Harvard took UMass; Connecticut beat Yale; Cornell beat their old rival Colgate, a good team; Lafayette over Penn, Columbia and Bucknell in a tie; Rutgers over Princeton; and Brown and Rhode Island in a tie.

Bill Terry and your secretary send best wishes to all.
