Beezle Parker, shortly after the sudden death of his wife, was driven down by his daughter from Ithaca, N. Y., where he lives, to Bridgewater, Conn., where another daughter lives. As Bridgewater is near Woodbury, the residence of your secretary, this daughter brought him over and we had a very pleasant visit going over old times. Beezle is proud of his daughters, and well he can be, for one of them is a past president of the Welsh Pony Training Association and has 30 horses on her farm near Ithaca, and the other has offices at the Athenaeum, a New York City publishing house, and writes under her maiden name, Dorothy Parker.
Pineo Jackson appends to a personal note an inspiringly mature Christmas message: "At Christmas may the deeper meaning of the festival pervade our thoughts and reawaken pleasant memories of bygone days."
Whit Eastman planned a get-together on December 29 with the Florida group at Clearwater: Mac Kendall, the Bankarts, the Scarletts, and Art Lord. They were to meet at Schraffts (shades of Bones Jones!) Whit enclosed with his note a card from Cheever Comey on which was a very good picture (in color) of Cheever sitting in a boat and holding a fishpole and line over the water and looking like a very contented Isaac Walton (even if he never catches anything). Whit's Christmas letter, as might be expected, was full of the bird-watching story, so we know that his interests have remained constant. His address from January 1 to April I will be: The Colony, Sanibel Island, Fla. 33957 Cheever is at 9 Capt. John Smith Loop, Old Bridge Park, North Fort Myers, Fla. 33903. If any of the northern Tenners are seeking respite in Florida from the deep snows and icy winds, here are two addresses you might like to look up.
Ned Loveland writes that he and his wife Gladys have found an ideal haven for their ebbing years in North Miami, Fla., close to their daughter Marion and her husband. As they are so well-cared for at their present location, he doubts whether they will be able to visit Hanover again. His address is 3155 Ixora Court, Apt. 510, North Miami, Fla. 33161.
The Ted Perry who has been conspicuous in football at Dartmouth and now a junior there, is a grandson of the recently deceased Scott Perry of the Class of 1910, who lived in Buenos Aires. And to further hook up the old Dartmouth with the new, a great-great-grandson of Asa Dodge Smith, President of Dartmouth from 1863 to 1876, is Peter J. Smith Jr., now in the Senior Class. President Smith would be proud of his descendent, as he is an honor student with a 4.3 average as well as an outstanding tennis player and a well-liked youth.
Herb Wolff, our Bequest Chairman, who has deservedly received so much honor from the Trustees (Alumni Award, President of the Bequest and Estate Planning Association, chairman of various Development Committees) has been having some confusion in receiving mail, some of which has gone to his office in New York and some to the Hotel Grammatan in Bronxville where he and his wife stayed during LennyMcClintock's illness. He now has what is presumably a rather permanent address: 56 Doyer Ave., White Plains, N. Y. 10605, so address your bequest promises to Herbie there.
