Once more the Dartmouth Alumni Association of Greater Boston is sponsoring another historic reaching of Dartmouth hands across the seas. This time the scene is to be London. The dates are May 16 to 22. We have engaged an entire BO AC 707 aircraft. We plan to fill it with 174 Dartmouth people. Plans are still in the making. Yet, we can let you in on a few items now.
There will be a banquet, Friday, May 18, at the Goldsmith Guild Hall in London. This Hall is world famous as an outstanding example of the Guild Halls that were built throughout the 17th century. Spacious, well appointed, warm, chaining. President Kemeny and Mrs. Kemeny will have completed a visit to Bourges, France, and will be with us on this occasion. Dartmouth Clubs of Paris and other nearby parts of Europe will be invited to join us. President Kemeny will address us all.
The Earl and Countess of Dartmouth have been invited and have agreed to attend.
The Coldstream Guards Band has been engaged to provide musical entertainment for the evening. Frank Cornwell '35, head of Monsanto in London, is in charge of the arrangements. This much had been arranged even before his first formal committee meeting on January 5. He promises that those in attendance will thoroughly enjoy and never forget the warmth and the Dartmouth fellowship of that evening. Incidentally, don't let the banquet scare you. Dress will be informal.
If you have friends or family in England, plan to visit them in May. If you have business in England, arrange to do it at that time. London in May is absolutely beautiful, the weather is right. The plane is not a flimsy charter. We'll have a firstclass airline, a first-class plane. Accommodations in a relatively new hotel. A bargain price of $219 plus 10% tax and services, which includes, travel, hotel, breakfast, ticket to the theatre, sightseeing and other amenities.
A letter of invitation and travel brochure with application blank was mailed to all New England alumni early in January. But the trip is a "Dartmouth" trip and as such is open to all alumni and members of their immediate families. This includes parents of students. However, to be eligible for the group flight alumni must be members in good standing" in their respective alumni clubs, which means their dues must be paid for 1972-73. Alumni beyond the New England area who are interested can obtain the trip brochure by writing to Ira L. Berman, 147 South Street, Boston, Mass. 02111 (please mark the envelope "Dartmouth London Trip").
