Negotiations between Dartmouth and the Federal Republic of Germany have resulted in a new German-Dartmouth Distinguished Visiting Professorship by which German academics will be invited to Hanover. "Dartmouth will benefit from the expertise of visiting German scholars and Germany will gain in faculty development," says Dartmouth Professor Konrad Kenkel, who helped negotiate the agreement. The Germans will give Dartmouth $700,000 to support the program until 1997. The College will raise matching funds so that the program can continue beyond that date.
