Two seniors and an alumnus of the Class of 1969 have been awarded Danforth Fellowships for advanced study, in preparation for teaching careers in higher education.
George A. Cooke Jr. '69 of Uniondale. N.Y., who has been serving in the U.S. Navy since graduation, plans to do graduate study in modern English literature.
Scott W. Johnson '73 of St. Paul. Minn., will also do graduate work in English.
David W. Stevens '73 of Riverside, Conn., will be working toward his doctorate in medieval studies.
The fellowships, supported by the Danforth Foundation of St. Louis, provide tuition and living expenses for up to four years of graduate study. The three Dartmouth men were among 100 recipients of this year's fellowships, for which there were more than 1800 applicants.
