Dud Hendrick was pleased with the win but not particularly impressed with' the overall performance.

He had to be happy. His Dartmouth lacrosse team had presented him with the first Ivy League win the Green has tasted on the field since 1969 (Harvard was a forfeit victim in 1970). Yale, which hadn't lost to Dartmouth since 1965, was a 4-3 victim in New Haven but Hendrick admitted that his pleasure with his first Ivy win was tempered with reservations about the Green's overall performance.

"We've got more offense than we've shown," said Hendrick, whose team had a 2-3 record during the southern trip and dropped a 12-6 decision to a strong Massachusetts team before upending the Elis.

We've got better scoring balance but haven't scored as well as I expected we would. I'm still looking for the right combination."

The scoring has been spread effectively through seven games. John Lyons, a senior from Livingston, N.J., and junior Dave Cranshaw from Fayetteville, N.Y., both midfielders, have collected 11 points while Dick Gamper and Co-Captain Scott Anderson (from Baltimore and Ithaca) are attackmen with 10 points apiece.

Lyons, who topped the scoring picture with 10, had the shot that broke a 2-2 tie with Yale in the third period, and the biggest goal of the season belonged to sophomore Kevin O'Brien, a midfielder who fired the shot with four minutes left to play that decided the Yale game.

While the scoring has been good if not great, the latter adjective can be applied to the play of junior defenseman Mike Shedlosky from Camp Hill, Pa.

"Mike's been next to great," said Hendrick. "He's played with unusual consistency and has made a tremendous difference for us."

In the goal, Co-Captain Mitch Whiteley from Towson, Md., has continued to produce the steady performance that gained him All-Ivy League mention last year. Helping the goal situation is the play of sophomore Jeff Bennett. "He's an excellent backup for Mitch," said Hendrick.

Freshman javelin thrower Skip Cumminsof Grove City, Pa., who has established anew College record with a throw of 245feet, 2 inches, nearly 25 feet over the 1932mark set by Malcolm Metcalf.
