Dr. Bill Clough has received great honor in having the recent addition to the New London, N.H., Memorial Hospital named for him. Bill received an outstanding write-up in our 50-Year Book written by Royal Parkinson. I will quote the last paragraph.
"This is the story of Dr. Bill Clough Sr., sincere and kindly, patient and unruffled, with a keen sense of humor, a 'man of gold.' It is also the story of a country physician, tireless and selfless, whose contribution to humanity is unmeasurable. We are glad to claim him a member of '05!"
Mildred Putnam had a wonderful trip to Hawaii. She saw Carroll Campbell's daughter who reported that her mother is still in a Connecticut nursing home.
Pete Bedell's grandson reported he is in Florida and has hopes his son may go to Dartmouth, even if that is a long way off because the boy is only two years old now.
Ida Parkinson had a serious eye operation in a local hospital but is now back home and reports her eyes will be O.K.
Marion Grover has moved to the Royal Magansetta Nursing Home in North Falmouth which is across the street from Maude Harding's.
Ann Reid spent a few weeks in Florida at the same place she has gone to for many years but she did not see any Dartmouth folks. As it does all of us, old age slows her down.
Ernest White reported by telephone that he recently attended a Dartmouth Alumni dinner in Portland, Me. Jesse Brooks recently had her 88th birthday.
Fred Chase returned from Florida by train the last of April. He celebrated his 90th birthday with 21 friends on hand. He thanks classmates and widows for the many cards he received.
Jane and I flew home April 10, fortunate to have a man drive the car north. Weattended Class Officers Weekend May 4 and 5. It was the largest ever. I was the oldest man present, followed by Redman '06, Childs '06, Grebenstein '07, Leavitt '07. Lura Kenyon, carrying on in Bob's job as class agent, received special mention.
The top class of the year award went to 1935. Those receiving honorary mention were '05, '11, '22, '23, '26, '31, '41, '53, '54, '64, and '65. President Kemeny gave an inspiring address which you will have read in the Bulletin.
