Fred Chase reminisces about the new German dance which came to Hanover during our undergraduate days. The schottische was a lovely dance and Professor and Mrs. Burton were the only people he knew who danced it. He remembers watching with joy and admiration yes, and with envy, as they swung around the floor. He says, "Oh, why did I not ask the gracious lady to try to teach me the dance? Maybe I did and she did, but I never mastered it?"

The Falconers celebrated Robert's 93rd birthday on February 16 in the company of 20 old friends. One said of Bob, "You exemplify what we all wish for if we are granted so long a life you still enjoy your golf and the scope of your interests exceeds that of many younger men." Bob replied that he- is counting on living to be 100 and attributed his longevity to being moderate in all things.

It is my sad duty to report the death of PearlM. Brown, widow of our Fred Brown, last July. She was 84 years old and had lived the last years in St. Petersburg next to her daughter Pearl Brown Brockman. There are two sons who now have an enterprising computer service near their present home at 1922 Woodvine, Houston, Tex- as 77055.

We talked to C. C. Hills in March and he said he was sorry not to make the Sigma Chi meeting at Sarasota on March 5. Like all of us, he is troubled with the signs of old age. He hopes to see Jane and me before we go back north April 10.

We are all sorry that Dean Carroll Brewster has resigned, effective July 1. He will become president of Hollins College, a small Virginia college for women, founded in 1842. It has 1,100 students. Dean Brewster called Hollins "the right place at the right time." He said, "I leave with deep regrets. The friends we have made here among students, administrators. Trustees, alumni, and faculty are the kind that will last for the rest of my life. Dartmouth is that kind of place."

We have lost in the last five years 13 men from the Class: Bell, Brooks, Campbell, Cunningham, Goodrich, Haskell, Moore, Musgrove, Putnam, Richards, Russell, Tolman, and White.
