We can start our column this month with some good news. Bob Scott has consented to assume the chairmanship and presidency of the Class. Since Bob has been relinquishing positions of responsibility with assorted business connections, we greatly appreciate his willingness to work with us in the interests of the Class and the College. Because he resides in Connecticut and spends part of the winter in Fort Lauderdale, he will be able to maintain close contact with Hanover as well as those fortunate classmates who seek the Florida sunshine. Due notice of his appointment has been sent to the Administration officials at Hanover with the statement that our executive committee was unamimous in its approval. At this time it should also be stated that since there is a vacancy on the executive committee, your secretary would appreciate receiving suggestions from you before our fall gathering.

Ralph Sanborn had a short stay in an Exeter hospital in early December. Now that he is back home, we are pleased to learn that he has lost none of his spirit or his ability to write in his inimitable style.

Phil Evans represented the Class at a dinner held recently at the Harvard Down Town Club in Boston, honoring Coach Crouthamel. He reports an enthusiastic response and a full house at this happy occasion.

A cheery line came from Walt and PhoebeWalters who took time out for a brief vacation at Key Biscayne. Walt, we hope your busy schedule will include a visit to Hanover coinciding with our fall gathering.

Quite a catalogue of information came from a classmate in response to Vic Smith's plea for class dues. Hal Walker of Marblehead, Mass., writes "For some 35 years I was involved in fire protection interests. My career as a fire protection engineer came to a close in 1962, but I really didn't retire then. After a tour of Europe, I became interested in doing consulting and research work and now spend three or four days a week as director of the Lynn Historical Society." We can also add that Hal spent four years on the faculty of Lehigh University. Thank you, Hal, for a fine report.

Through Will Fitch we received the sad news of the sudden passing of our close friend, Roscoe Hayes '19, at Delray, Fla. "Rock helped many of us, including the writer, during his business years in the Boston area. A devoted alumnus who exemplified the real Dartmout spirit, he made life happier for those who were fortunate enough to have known him. From our own class, Phil Woodwell has sent details regarding the death in November, 1974, of Bob Buxton of Damariscotta, Me. Also we regretfully report the passing of John Baer of San Mateo, Calif. Fuller accounts will appear in a forthcoming publication.

Mark down June 9-12, the Post-50 Reunion in Hanover. It's later than you think.
