'17 was up for a successful mini-reunion September 18 to 20 at the Hanover Inn. Here is the list of enthusiastic participants. Mott and Fran Brown, Sherm and Helen Smith, Roger and Carol Stone, Bob and Anita Scott, Spique and Ruby Maclntyre, Bob and Gail Boynton, Slats and Helen Baxter, Karl and Adele Thielscher, Larry and Lucile Nourse, Vic and Irene Smith, Gene and Lucile Towler, Ralph Cocks, Perc and Hortense Streeter, Ralph and Ethel Sanborn, Phil and Jo Evans, Al and Pearl Bushnell, Sandy and Tommie Lynch, Norm and Mary McCulloch, Helen Brooks, George Gregory, George Allison, Ralph and Evelyn Britton, Hank and Polly Loudon, Duke and Dot Howe. Mary Gile with her daughter and son-in-law, the Cavaneys, met with us for cocktails on Friday, while Al and Maude Edgerton happily made the rounds Saturday. Missing members of the executive committee were Len Reade and Willis Fitch who were enjoying well deserved vacations in Europe.
President Brown presided at our class meeting. Reports of Sentry Editor, ShermSmith, and Treasurer Vic were approved. Mott Brown, substituting for Len Reade, brought us up-to-date on our commendable showing in the Alumni Fund participation. Roger Stone told us of the renewal of interest in bequests. Karl Thielscher was elected chairman of the 1972 Reunion Committee. With authority thus vested, he quickly appointed Bob Boynton as cochairman. As we all know, Bob has done a great deal of arranging of accommodations for us, past and present, so we can be assured of his efficiency in the future. So let your wants be known to Karl, whether it be canes or reducing belts, and meanwhile, good luck and good health! to all.
Perc Streeter, bearing honors received from Canada, modestly played a round on September 19 with Bob Scott, HankLoudon, and Bob Britton. Desiring a flat course and finding Woodstock loaded with 'l9ers, they settled for New London. Of course, Perc-Val won, but it assured a return match with these avid competitors in Florida next winter.
A line from Al Bushnell shows how one can hit the four-score mark and still maintain lively interests. A quote from a recent note—"l surely am a happy louse, sleep well at night and putter around all day; pick corn and beans and berries from the garden, play alto in the town band, play the organ for the Masons and go to church on Sunday." Al was in Hanover last lune to witness the graduation of his grandson who not only received his diploma but the Phi Beta Kappa award as well.
Writing from Bellevue, Wash., SamWhite describes a joint birthday party with his oldest grandchild. Sam and Lou still reminisce about our great 50th and hope to be with us again soon.
Another loss in our roster must be reported—the passing of Burton Gale. Our sympathy goes out to Louise and his family.
