Lee A. Chilcote Jr. '64, named Outstanding Jaycee for 1973-74 by Cleveland's Junior Chamber of Commerce, was the victim of an unintentional switch in photographs in the 1964 column of last October. Provision of the accompanying (and accurate) photo also provides an opportunity to enlarge on why Lee was accorded the honor.
In June 1973 the Jaycees sponsored a Mounted Police Benefit Horse Show under his direction to help buy new mounts for the Cleveland Mounted Police. The show grossed over $20,000.
Last year Lee was involved in a housing project for the elderly with low income. Because of his persistent efforts to obtain federal and local funds, the Crestview Apartments has been able to provide a hot lunch program for its residents as well as to buy a mini-bus to bring elderly people to the center for lunch.
And more recently the Cleveland Jaycees received an award from Ohio Governor Gilligan for the outstanding senior citizens' center of its kind in Ohio.
Apparently the Chilcote interest in the elderly is not only through the Jaycees, since wife Tuni says, "Lee and I have thoroughly enjoyed our involvement with Crestview and, needless to say, the residents are delighted to see us and our three little boys - Donald (5 yrs.), Michael (2), and Lee (3 mos.)."
Lee is a practicing attorney with Thompson, Hine & Flory in Cleveland.
