Delightful news from Matt Weinberg in San Francisco. He says it best, "The Class of 55 has multiplied again. My wife Barbara and I became proud parents of our first, a boy named Mark, on February 24. Being present at the birth, I was pleasantly surprised to see a hearty little fellow squirm his way into the world. Though his father was a debater at Dartmouth, he looked at birth, in the eyes of his proud papa, like he would qualify as a football center. I should quickly add that the bellows which accompanied his arrival did have the ring of a potential debater."
Matt practices law, specializing in corporate and tax work. He is a certified tax specialist and sits on a number of corporate boards. Congratulations to both Barbara and Matt and best wishes to Mark in the future.

Jack Bailey and his family live in the Raleigh-Durham, N.C., area where Jack works for the Research Triangle Institute in the Center for Educational Research and Evaluation. He was promoted in March to coordinator of a new developmental studies office. Their primary activities involve studying the long term impact that educational experiences have on individual development. Jack was a naval officer for ten years. He received Masters and Ph.D. degrees from the U. of Florida. He was an assistant professor there and also was executive director of the Parent-Child Center in Jacksonville before moving to North Carolina.
John Harlor is a 16-year veteran at the Polaroid Corp. in Boston. He started as an engineer in facilities engineering and has worked his way up through a variety of assignments. He was promoted in February to assistant vice president with responsibility for all corporate services. He reports to the president, William McCune. His responsibilities will include materials management, warehousing and transportation, data systems, community relations, corporate security, and real estate. That's very impressive and we're all proud of you. Turner. I'm sure that a man who can handle materials management for Polaroid can easily arrange to have plenty of beer on hand for our 20th Reunion. I'll be looking forward to that.
Lt. Col. Bill Gavitt of the Air Force recently took his 742d Strategic Missile Squadron from North Dakota to California for a test firing exercise. This is part of the intercontinental ballistic missile system. I'm glad it works and hope Bill will never have to pull the trigger for real.
Please consider very carefully the role of Dartmouth in your life past, present and future as you make your decision about Alumni Fund giving. I hope you will agree with me that it is deserving of our generous support. Have a good summer!
