Now hear this: Doug Woodring, class reunion chairman for the 45th in '76, has begun to beat the drum. Please mark your calendar now - the dates are June 14-16, 1976. Further information can be had from Doug, whose address is Box 79, Craigville, Mass. 02636. Much more about this later.
Just so we don't have any secrets, Doug confided that George Conklin recently visited him on Cape Cod, where he was on a mission for Johnny Gilmore who is considering buying a home in the Cape area. Cape Cod is getting to be almost as bad as Florida for retiring thirty-oners.
Here's a great letter from Bruce Clarkson: "Had a wonderful three months in Clearwater, Fla., playing golf several times with no ill effects. Kept so dam busy we didn't have time to do those things we should have done and viceversa. (Ed. vice versa?) Ellie is struggling with a back problem of some sort which we haven't got the best of as yet. We had a good trip home via auto-train and have finally caught up with the held-over mail. Started to play golf at home but I spotted a little snow in the air and decided it was too chilly. Will take care of this matter later in the week. We may make a trip to Hanover to see our son Roger and his wife Heidi before graduation early in June. Then we probably will go to Drakes Island, Me., for the summer. While in Florida we enjoyed a visit with Sher and Betty Guernsey. Let it be known, please, that I'm as good as new and let the golfers beware as my handicap is 21." Thank you, Bunce.
The snowbirds are flitting back to northern latitudes again - Hank and Rose McCarthy back from Florida to Eastman (near Hanover) for a few weeks and then to their rookery in Marblehead for the summer. John and LucyCogswell back in Hanover after six weeks in Barbados and Florida. I wonder where John andGladys Benson are? Maybe they're still wander- ing around Florida. I can't tell because all my information comes to me second-hand.
Bill Minehan made it to Hanover from Wisconsin for Class Officers' weekend, which is more than I can say for myself. The boats were running from here to the mainland, but I wasn't - I had a virus and was much more obnoxious than usual, and useless as well. So I spent my time on the bunk by the kitchen window taking inventory. One of our 100-ft. white birch trees has 12,382 tiny buds waiting for the May sunshine. I hope the snow flurries stop eventually.
Things I didn't know until now - Parker Soule admits to having had a jazz band before college days, and still has the bug. I must explore this further.
