We goofed in October. In reviewing our notes on new attendees at the great fall mini-reunion we omitted to mention Irene and Jerry Low. All the more a goof as it was their first time back to Hanover in 25 years so they herewith get top billing. Jerry, semi-retired, is chairman of the Planning Board of Briarcliff Manor. Irene does sculptoring and painting as hobbies. Their son '73 was an aide to former Governor Sargent of Massachusetts. They loved it and will be back.

So it's Christmastime and cards. Chuck Bassett wrote the longest note as he had time being "grounded with a bad back" and suggested Katie keep on her feet and your secretary on his pills for 1976. Betty and Gib Reynolds have missed several of our recent gatherings mostly due to Gib's bad leg. He has now lost about 40 pounds (Betty says, "sounds unlikely but true") and the leg still a bit swollen but it takes time. She keeps busy with needlepoint, having made many Dartmouth items from coasters to rugs. MR. SANTA Ruggles of course was in his element, busy weekends like no one can imagine. One day he dandled moppets on his knee until 6:15 p.m. and that is a long day. The Erdmans are enjoying their new vacation home in Eastman flying up whenever it seems like a good idea.

Ginny and Rog Allen usually make Boston to visit their daughter but the gathering was held at Hempstead this year. Credit for the biggest card goes to the Bosworths showing a very surprised and dirty Santa sitting in a pile of bricks and rubble having fallen down the chimney. If BillBreitinger signed all their cards as he did ours he was a very busy left-handed fella. And thanks to the Hinmans, Dumonts, Mayos, Laughtons,Falions, Jane Handrahan and Jane Brown for their thoughtful remembrances as well as the long annual reports from the Bryants and Aylwards that cover too much ground for this column.

Every so often over the years we have been reminded of the fact that Shel Wagner was mayor of Hastings-on-Hudson, N.Y. What we failed to realize was he started during his second term as Village Trustee in 1955 when he was appointed acting mayor. Apparently the village liked what they saw. He was subsequently elected to seven two-year terms in a row, finally retiring after 20 years of dedicated service to his community. Since Shel is hardly one to blow his own horn, wife Janet sent along a host of material indicating that October 12 was Sheldon Wagner Day. Included was a proclamation of appreciation from the front page of the paper, and a special program the whole town turned out for wherein they dedicated a park to him called the R. Sheldon Wagner Plaza. The day was complete with two bands, lots of speeches, guests galore and all followed with a giant buffet dinner. Reading of all the people in this tribute it seemed more like a Cecil B. DeMille production with a cast of thousands. So many politicians suffering a credibility gap these days it's good to hear of one so loved and appreciated. Congratulations from us all, Shel, we admire you too.

Most everyone of our vintage knows that Herb West died last November. The Friends of the Dartmouth Library have created as a tribute to him a permanent endowment fund for the annual purchase of rare books in his memory for Baker Library. It is to be called the "Herbert Faulkner West Library Fund." Any desiring to participate in the memory of this wonderful guy can make out a check to Dartmouth College (tax deductible) and forward to "West Fund," Dartmouth College Library, Hanover, N.H. 03755.

Bill Leonard, CBS News senior vice president, director of public affairs broadcasts, was made vice president, Washington, for the parent company, a broadcasting concern, that makes records, instruments, textbooks and toys.

Carl Noyes also sent us a copy of the Wagner tribute saying he and Taffy spent a delightful two weeks in the Costa del Sol area of Spain last November. (Probably to help dry out after attending the D-H game).

The last issue of this Magazine carried word of the death of Bill Stover. The only record we have of him is in the back part of the Aegis as a non-graduate and it is the only place his name appears. We mention it here in case anyone remembers him and missed the notice.
