THE GOLDEN JUBILEE
Three more good guys who had planned on our 50th have succumbed to the ravages of time: Brice Sheets, of cancer; Claude Clark a month after a cardiac arrest; and Ben Marion, who was crippled and walked with two canes throughout our four years, never asking or needing help and always with a smile.Dick Sawyer volunteered to write his obituary as they attended Roxbury Latin School together and had kept in touch.
Had a quick word with Gus Hull. He and Jeanne plan a two-week trip up the Amazon in February. He is doubtful about reunion.
Ray Hinds is another retiree who travels, skis, and maintains a busy life. Planning on a trip to Australia this spring on a car drive to see everything. Has had a home at Sugarloaf, Maine, for 25 years. He was formerly in the molded paper plates business which merged with the Keyes Company in 1978. He keeps occupied doing income tax work.

The Mint Bag carried an article on a salute to Sey Ochsner on his retirement from the Ochsner Clinic, an event receiving much notice. Sey recorded it as one of his most "memorable days." He and Bobbie spend six months in Louisiana now and six months in Candlewood Park, Conn., only a stones throw from brother Reg in Southbury.
Long missing Fred Castle married again to a widow from his hometown of Hinsdale,
Many Christmas cards came our way from Dartmouth friends. Hank and Barbara Pierce report that Barbara is making progress with therapy on her shattered heel bone although the prognosis is still nine months to a year recovery. On the phone she is just as bright and cheery as ever! She has progressed from a wheelchair to a walker to crutches and finally a few steps. She tells everybody to WEAR YOUR SEATBELTS! It saved their lives.
Gus Farwell's letter told of Ginny's sudden bout with a, very bad gall bladder which was removed just in time. She is OK now, but Gus had a chest x-ray that revealed a tumor, so out came part of his lung as well as part of his ribs to get at it. Last we heard it was radiation for some seven weeks for a starter.
Jean and Jim Luttrell left their island paradise long enough for an AARP cruise to Alaska in July. They did not take to eating all the time and being herded about like sheep but otherwise it was OK and different. Back home there is too much emphasis on tourism with cruise ships coming and going. The saving grace for St. Johns is that two-thirds of the land is national park so building is controlled. They will be at reunion!
Connie Berenson says "Stan's still at it. (We can attest to his legal abilities and dedication to his clients.)
Al Gray says call if you get near Tampa, 813/349-4850!
Martha and Boz Bosworth were tucked into their new home in Cummiquid on Cape Cod. Before taking off for a winter in Naples, Fla., they planted 175 tulip bulbs, which they hope will greet them upon their return in the spring in blooming glory.
Shirley Neer, a mutual friend, says on her card /Mayos and Eldreds are already talking about a big reunion in Hanover come June." They confirmed that on our cards. Fred Mayo said on his card to us that it's hard to get into the Christmas spirit with Sun City temperature at 80 degrees.
Twila and Frank Danzig still remember our visit with them on Tigertail Road and are looking forward to seeing us all in June.
Frank Robin's card is the usual Robin We would miss it if he ever changed to Santa Claus!
Sam Dillon's postcard of his "Pink Fancy" Hotel is most fetching. It should bring in some business in St. Croix.
Betsy and Bob Ross complain it's too hot in Florida to mature the citrus crop. Better than frost say we!
Lynn and Dana Prescott's busy life criss-crossing the country seeing friends and children is pretty hard to keep up with. They spent their 43rd anniversary in the Monterey/Carmel area, where they spent their honeymoon and first months of wedded bliss. They came east to the Hanover Boat House dedication, where Dana's '37 crew was one of five honored in Dartmouth's Rowing Hall of Fame.
Sherry Bryant is getting along OK with therapy but is a serious invalid physically, but most fortunately her speech and ability to communicate were not affected.
We're happy to report Rog Allen is recovering nicely from a laryngectomy and is in therapy for learning how to air-talk.
MOST IMPORTANT PLEA: your nominating committee is very anxious for you to submit names to them through their chairman, Fred Asher for the entire slate of officers including the secretarial duties.
Let's look forward to the BIG ONE coming up and remember to participate in the REUNION GIFT to keep Fran Fenn and Charley Collis at Bay!
