Herewith are a few final glimpses of our 35 th Reunion last June. Doug Fusonie looked like he was ready to report for fall football practice. He's wearing his years well. John Kavanagh was ready to lead the band during halftime. LouLevy, Harv Wilson, and Jerry Mann may be a pound or two heavier but still looked fit enough to hold down the rooting section along with Pete Williamson and John Wolf. JoeSlotnik and I might just be able to lug another water cooler out to the 50-yard line. SallyPrescott, always irrepressible and the gracious hostess, looked forward to welcoming us to her Norwich home for some after-the-game frolics. John Whiteley was finishing up his work on the Alumni Fund for 1992. As I remarked in earlier class columns, it was a wonder-full three days on the Hanover Plain for almost 90 of us'58s, along with our spouses and friends.
As I write this column in mid-September, I am reminded that we were just matriculating at Baker Library some 38 years ago. At that time, I recall President John Sloan Dickey greeting us with the words, "Remember, gentlemen, your first job here at Dartmouth is learning." The class of 1958 has much to be thankful for as it looks back over these past 38 years. In the years that lie ahead for each of us, President Dickey's words would seem to be as appropriate now as they were then. As we march through our late fifties on into our sixties, lam reminded that learning is a lifelong process.
As this will be reaching you just before the Thanksgiving holiday, best wishes to you all from Connecticut.
