I'm gonna make this month's article short and sweet. The reason is two-fold. Firstly, I am getting no word from any classmates; consequently, I'm running out of news. Secondly, and, in the short term, more importantly, I'd like to give you five minutes that you would have spent reading a longer article to write your first check (or second, if you are so prone) to the Alumni Fund. I know you know, more than ever, the school needs our support. So . . . give a little; and if you have, give a little more.

And now for some news from such strange cities as Sydney, Bluffton, Vallego, and Lima. How's that for a combination. Charlie Lamb (22 Karoo Avenue, E. Lindfield NSW 2070, Australia) along with his wife Chris, Scott (13), Susan (10), and Robert (8) have moved half-way around the world where he is the vice president in charge of corporate banking with First National City Bank. In that capacity, Charlie finds himself traveling often through Europe and Asia. Charlie, enjoy it! Having been there, I know what a great bunch the Aussies are!

Bluffton, you ask? That's right, Bluffton, Indiana - home of Larry Purcell (919 Sherwood Drive, Bluffton, Indiana 46714). In fact, now that Larry has become a "board certified" urologist (February last year), he was able to move up in the world from Parkway Drive to Sherwood Drive, As you know, in Sherwood, Robin stole from the rich to give to the poor. When's the last time you heard a doctor doing that? Seriously, Larry, congratulations and good luck.

From a Robin Hood, it appears as if we have a Blackbeard in the gang as well. Well, you see, Charlie McVean (12 Elna Drive, Vallejo, Calif. 94590) took command of the U.S.S. Seawolf last November. So, anyone living the kind of life one leads in and around San Francisco and occasionally sailing the high seas in the Bay area has got to be some kind of pirate! However, having seen the formal invitation to Charlie's ascension to commandership, I doubt his penchancy toward piracy! So, here's a formal toast from the men of H.M.S. Dart '59 - Hip! Hip! Hooray!

And speaking of her majesty's ships, how about a Spanish galleon down to Peru, where Pablo Lozano (Los Paujiles #126, Lima 34, Peru) is still trying to get iron out of the ground. I want to repeat what I said about Pablo in the first issue after our 15th Reunion. Here is a '59er who was and is committed to the Class and the College, having traveled with his son all the way from Lima to Hanover for that great weekend. Quite a guy. Pablo also tells us that Carlos and Kathy Plummer (Geology Dept., California State University, Sacramento, Calif. 95819) have become the proud parents of their first son, Christopher, last August. No, gang, he wasn't named after Columbus! Enough of this scullduggery! Anyway, Carlos, may he grow to be anything but a thief in the woods or a pirate or an explorer!

Bill Morton Jr. has been named first vice president of Mitchell, Hutchins, Inc., a leading institutional brokerage firm which he joined in 1967 as a vice presi- dent. He became a director in 1970, and is also co-manager of the trading department. Bill received his M.B.A. from New York University Graduate School in 1965. He, wife Susan, Andrew William 111, Sarah, and Kate live in Greenwich. William G. Morton Sr. is a member of the Class of 1928.

Before I end, I do want you to know (in case the newsletter hasn't arrived) that there was an executive committee meeting in February. Four basic issues were discussed: the Alumni Fund, which is well on its way by now; next year's football weekends and how we'll organize better tailgate parties; the newsletter and the current search for a full-time editor (instead of having Mike Hurd, Tippy Blake, and me share authorship); and the class directory, which will be culled from the responses to the College's questionnaire. As of February 15, the College has only received 429 out of 700 '59 questionnaires sent out. Since the College directory is going to press on April 1, it is now too late for any additions. However, our class directory will not be finalized until late summer. So, if you haven't sent in your college questionnaire, send it to me. If you lost the questionnaire form, contact me and I'll send another.

One final thought: Give from the heart; not because you think it's an obligation.
