Representing '28 at the Class Officers Weekend in Hanover April 30-May 1 were Head Agent Bill Lary, Secretary Os Skinner and Mary, Vice President Bill Morton and Bobby, and former Alumni Council president George Davis and Marion.
Treasurer Craig Haines and Eleanor were on a cruise to the Canary Islands and President Jack Kenerson and Fran were either in Arizona or at some international curling match.
The principal subject of discussion during the weekend was the male-female ratio. We gathered that the alumni consider the January action of the Trustees in eliminating the 3000-1000 ratio as a slap in the face for the alumni who through their Alumni Council had a month earlier heatedly opposed any change at this time. The Trustees who spoke May 1 in defense of their action emphasized that any change would be gradual.
As the '28ers were going in to the Inn dining room for lunch after the final session on Saturday, Lane and Betty Dwinell were waiting for a table and joined us.
John Phillips was in the hospital for special surgery in New York City and recovering from a hip operation. He expects to be out in mid-May and then go home to recuperate. As one of his friends said "The iron man finally had to get repaired."
Feet Thurston, a consulting textile engineer, has cut down working to an average of three months a year, but well spaced out. He was in Englewood, Fla., last year, an area also favored by Sherm and Marie Baketel, but things interfered when he had a chance to go this year. Feet said he played cards recently with our old pal Eddie Deans '29.
Roy Milliken has sold his house in Hopetown in the Bahamas and is building another nearby. It's an expensive proposition as all building supplies have to be ferried over from Miami.
Please note a correction to the May column. Fall reunion will be U.N.H. game weekend, September 24-25, at the Norwich Inn and not September 18-19. Wat Dickerman has promised to come again from California to lead his hit combo.
Also start planning now on our biggest reunion, the 50th.
See you in September. Have a good summer
